Personalized tutoring for grades 6–12
I’m Bobby Ogburn, M.Ed., a licensed high school teacher with 12 years of experience helping students build understanding, confidence, and practical academic skills.
I recently moved to Lafayette after living and working in Seattle, Washington, for more than two decades. I’m ecstatic to call Colorado my new home! I enjoy being outdoors, playing music, and perusing the aisles of vintage bookstores.
My educational journey began in Special Education, supporting students with multiple disabilities and barriers to learning. I also used my American Sign Language fluency to work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students as they adapted to life at a large hearing high school.
I later earned my Master’s in English Education, a field that has been my passion since I was young. Alongside teaching, I coached high school baseball for more than a decade—an experience that reinforced the value of patience, preparation, clear communication, and encouragement.
Today, I substitute teach grades 6–12 in the greater Denver region, primarily in English and Social Studies. I would be honored to support your child as they continue their own educational journey.
Students do not all need the same explanation. My job is to identify the gap, make the framework visible, and tailor the work so a student can participate with more confidence.
Reading comprehension, essays, grammar, literary analysis, and finding a student’s own voice on the page.
Making complex material easier to organize, understand, remember, and explain in class or on an assignment.
Patient, structured help for mixed-ability learners, including students who benefit from a different path into the material.
Breaking assignments into manageable steps, building routines, and helping students become more independent learners.
We begin with what your child understands, what feels difficult, and what they want to be able to do.
I help students see how ideas, assignments, and expectations fit together so the work feels less overwhelming.
Each session should leave a student with clearer skills, a manageable plan, or a new reason to believe they can succeed.
